A resource has been added in support of Playscape 8: Eating Healthy Growing Strong: an infographic handout for parents and caregivers from the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Public Health Association, National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education. DOWNLOAD this helpful tip sheet explaining how and why to balance juice with water for children's health! It will be a great handout to distribute after a Play K program/storytime or just to have available for parents.
A resource tab for family engagement has been added to Cruise Libraries: Family Book Adventures!
Family Book Adventures are designed to provide all the support needed for libraries to host a one-to two-hour interactive family night. The activities in the guides are outlined for three different age groups of children: three activity stations to support preschool/kindergarten literacy skill-building, an exploration table especially for toddlers, and extension activities that offer primary grade children the chance to take a deeper dive into the subject.
The purpose of these family night activities is to educate families about the importance of early literacy. The activities included in each resource guide will focus on the five research-based practices emphasized by the Every Child Ready to Read @ your library® 2nd Edition initiative: Singing, Talking, Reading, Writing, and Playing. This event has the potential to provide the perfect opportunity for partnerships between early childhood programs and local libraries.
The complete guide of the latest Family Book Adventure Guide featuring the book, Up, Down and Around, by Katherine Ayres is now available for DOWNLOAD! Up, Down and Around is a former Pennsylvania One Book selection and you can find additional resources for the book on the One Book website.
The complete Family Book Adventure Guide featuring the book, Fabulous Fishes, by Susan Stockdale is also available for DOWNLOAD.
Commonwealth Libraries will provide free copies of Fabulous Fishes for each participating family while supplies last!
